Purpose The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive review of all aspects of pediatric nutrition, beginning with the genome. These objectives are certainly worthy and the book meets them. Audience The audience for this excellent book includes pediatric clinicians at all levels of training. Everyone who provides nutritional care for infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and young adults will benefit from this book. The authors are highly qualified. Features The book begins with a discussion of aspects of nutrition and the genome and continues with nutrition for the 21st century. It covers the development and physiology of the gastrointestinal system and continues with methods and substrates for feeding pediatric patients. It then discusses provision of nutrition to pediatric patients with acute and chronic illnesses. Food insecurity and safe provision of nutrition are also addressed. Charts and graphs highlight aspects of nutrition for clinicians. Assessment This book is a superb, well-written, comprehensive, state-of-the-art review of pediatric nutrition authored by experts and is highly recommended for all pediatric clinicians. A copy would be most useful for any pediatric providers working in the office, clinic, hospital, NICU, or intensive care.
