Description
This book covers various topics that are relevant to raising a family as a pharmacist. The chapters are written in SOAP format, which will be familiar to pharmacists and those in the medical field. The end of each chapter includes a helpful checklist that is essential for record keeping and keeping track of other responsibilities. The book also provides relevant resources for future reference. |
Purpose
The purpose of the book is to educate and provide resources about creating a work-life balance for pharmacy professionals. It is important that readers understand the various issues that may arise when working as a pharmacist. The book provides real-life examples and tries to provide solutions and resources for the common problems pharmacist-parents may face. |
Audience
This book is targeted to pharmacists and even pharmacy students. However, anyone in the field of pharmacy or even outside of pharmacy will be able to use some of the resources, tips, and advice in their own life. Some of the chapters are applicable to young professionals in any field as they provide practical methods of handling real-life situations. The book meets the expectations of the audience plus more. The authors are credible authorities with advanced credentials in the field of pharmacy who have orchestrated various pharmacy mom groups. They have taken the lead in advancing their careers while maintaining healthy relationships with their families. |

Features
The book is about various topics that arise in the lives of any parents and some chapters are geared toward those who are pharmacist parents. While some chapters are only pertinent to pharmacist parents, most of the chapters can be applicable to any new graduates or new parents. The book gives a good foundation for being a pharmacist parent. I like the new technique of presenting the material in SOAP fashion. I also like the bite-sized chapters with a pharmacist parent supporter checklist and resources at the end. Colorful illustrations add value to the chapters and quotes at the beginning of each chapter are motivating for readers. The illustrations, charts, boxes, and diagrams used throughout the book, as well as the real-life examples of how the authors tackled problems, are helpful. In this day and age, most people seek first-hand experience about what others did, and this book is written for this current generation of readers. As for the shortcomings, I found some of the subtopics in the plan a little lengthy. Although the chapters are quite short overall, some of the chapters could have been shortened. |

Assessment
Any young adult should read this book. The book is full of so many life tips one can take away without being a parent or even a pharmacist. Even though I am not a parent, I have learned a great deal of information to apply to my own life. At first, I thought this book was going to be about raising kids, but it offers a lot more information. I will highly recommend this book to my friends and family and all young professionals seeking ways to help navigate life. |
