| The author has done a tremendous job capturing a large amount of user-friendly information in this 327-page book which includes five sections, 17 chapters, and two appendices. The sections (Preparing to Write; Writing Research, Evidence Synthesis, Clinical Practice, and Quality Improvement Articles; Chapters, Books and Other Forms of Writing; The Writing Process; Final Paper through Publication) are all well constructed with exemplars included in all the chapters. The advice on topics such as publishing options, evidence synthesis, how to communicate during the editorial review process, and publishing DNP projects, are great additions to this fifth edition. The layout and color-coded headers and tables enhance the readability of the book on a topic that requires paying attention to details. The discussion on creating tables and figures is outstanding and will serve readers well when trying to adhere to submission requirements. The content of the editorial review process, including ways to communicate with editors and address requested revisions is well-constructed and may help move writers closer to the finish line. The appendices are helpful as they describe commonly used statistical symbols and abbreviations and include a variety of resources for authors, editors, and reviewers. In addition, the materials for educators are outstanding and help illuminate key features of the writing and publishing process. |
