Purpose
The book's purpose is to prepare hematology trainees and physicians in practice to successfully take the hematology board exam or recertification exam. This book is a useful, practical tool to meet these objectives. The material covered is relevant for those who will take these exams in the near future. |
Audience
This book is ideal for hematology fellows and physicians in practice preparing for these exams. It would also be useful for advanced practice clinicians who routinely manage hematology patients. The editors and authors of the book are hematology faculty and fellows at the University of Michigan with expertise in their area of writing. |
Features
This study guide comprehensively covers the major and most minor aspects of benign and malignant hematology topics, including the usual disease categories of red cell disorders, white cell disorders, and hemostasis and thrombosis disorders. It also includes sections on biostatistics, transfusion medicine, bone marrow transplantation, and CAR-T cell therapy. |
Assessment
I personally found this book to be useful. I am in the process of recertification and will use this study guide in my preparation. The previous edition was published 6 years ago; this new edition is certainly justified by the numerous advances in hematology. |
