It is presented in a case-based approach as a frame of reference for discussion, with some resolution of the cases at the end of the chapters. |

| The purpose of this book is to educate clinicians about aspects of the primary care of the pediatric patient using a case-based approach. The objectives are worthy and the book does an excellent job of fulfilling the objectives. |

| The audience is meant to be primary care clinicians caring for pediatric patients. The case-based format provides a clinical approach to teaching readers, as the impetus for this book was based on a series of lectures in residency. The book meets the needs of this intended audience, which includes clinicians in training as well as practitioners. The author and contributors are credible and experienced. |

| The book begins with a practical discussion of the medical home, the patient/family clinical interview, and talking with patients and parents. It then goes through principles of health care and pediatric management before expanding to cover clinical issues encountered by clinicians in the clinic, emergency department, office, and hospital - in a primary care setting. The only shortcomings are the illustrations. The tables are fine. |

It is a well-presented, clinically relevant reference for primary care clinicians, including those in training, nurse practitioners, pediatricians, and family medicine physicians. The author and contributors have done an excellent job of updating this edition as it was published in 2020, just before the coronavirus-19 pandemic. |
