Description
A companion to the *Red Book: 2018-2021 Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases*, 31st edition (AAP, 2018), this atlas presents streamlined disease-specific information (structured under the same headings as the main book) on clinical manifestations, etiology, epidemiology, diagnostic tests, and treatment, followed by high-quality, relevant images to help readers make the clinical diagnosis. The previous edition was published in 2016.

Purpose
The purpose is to help appropriately diagnose and treat pediatric infectious diseases by presenting streamlined information and relevant photographic evidence. This is a valuable and worthy objective and helps tailor the information in the *AAP Red Book* to the general clinical audience.

Audience
The audience includes both general medical practitioners in pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease physicians. The concise presentations in this book meet this goal, making the information both accessible and thorough. One limitation that it shares with the companion *AAP Red Book* is the absence of specific citations or references to help guide levels of evidence.

Features
The book covers over 160 pediatric infectious diseases in a clear, well-organized format. Although this type of book is the most engaging, it is intended as a quick reference for use when the disease is suspected, and it fulfills this purpose well. The high-quality images are invaluable, as many infectious diseases are diagnosed on the basis of a discerning clinical evaluation.

Assessment
This book is of the highest quality and justifies replacement of the previous edition. The fast-developing field of infectious diseases requires regular reevaluation, and timely updates of both the *AAP Red Book* and this companion atlas are crucial. There is simply no other book like it in the field, and it is invaluable to pediatric practitioners.
