Purpose The purpose of the book is to demonstrate and thoroughly explain current surgical techniques, workups, and complications that oral and maxillofacial surgery fellows and/or residents should consider. The objectives are worthy and the book meets them by discussing these topics in detail. For example, the chapter on dentoalveolar and implant surgery explains every facet of this subject, including impacted teeth, pre-prosthetic surgery, 3D imaging techniques, implant prosthodontics, and implant site preparation. Audience This book is written for surgical residents and faculty, as well as practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons, as evidenced by the structure of the text and how it applies to current treatment modalities in the field. The authors are credible authorities as they hold current faculty positions at well-respected oral and maxillofacial surgery programs; their credentials and publications also demonstrate their credibility. The imaging techniques are the most helpful, as they are well-described and detailed.
