The concepts are explained well. The immune dysregulation that exists in psoriasis is easy to understand. Readers are not overwhelmed with the intricacies of every cytokine and receptor interaction involved. Nice color diagrams outline the proposed initiation of the psoriatic cycle in the skin. The genetic role is simply outlined without being pedantic. Purpose The purpose is to help new dermatologists and students in the field understand psoriasis better. Audience The audience is dermatologists, nondermatologist physicians, medical students, residents, and other paramedical professionals. Features The basic principles in treating and diagnosing the different types of psoriasis are covered in an easy to understand fashion. Color shaded tables summarize biological agents, mechanisms of action, and their differences. An abundance of color photographs show psoriasis in different stages of presentation and treatment response. The appendix has an exhaustive history form that one can use to measure the impact the patient's psoriasis is having on quality of life.
