Purpose The purpose of the book is to address the basics of infection prevention and control due to the increase in health care-associated infection (HAI) during the pandemic. This is a great objective, and the book addresses the changes encountered with the pandemic. This book is needed due to many professionals being thrust into roles that were unfamiliar or rusty. It also addresses education for professionals that may have decreased focus due to changes in the educational environment. Audience The primary audience of this book is anyone active in infection prevention. It is easily read and understood and will benefit all areas of practice. Features The book discusses the human element of infection prevention and control efforts. It looks at hand hygiene, staff training, and sharps management. Illustrations cover the common myths related to hand hygiene. It also covers equipment cleaning and reprocessing and its relationship to transmission and related human factors.
