The same is true when comparing the work to Feigin and Cherry's Textbook of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, 9th Edition, Cherry et al. (Elsevier, 2025), as this work covers immunology and pathogenesis on a deeper level. Lastly, other works, such as The Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy, 53rd Edition, Gilbert et al. (Antimicrobial Therapy, Inc, 2023), focus on both adult and pediatric infectious disease topics making them extremely dense and difficult to utilize as a quick reference. The rapidly changing field of infectious disease and new emerging infections, such as COVID-19, justifies the updated edition. I highly recommend this book to all practitioners caring for children and young adults in either the inpatient or outpatient setting.
