Its flow is easy to follow, logical, and sensible. This is a perfect companion to the videotape of the same title or by itself. Purpose According to the authors, this book hopes to be "part of the recommitment among pharmacists to restore competency in performing one of the most important tasks in healthcare." This book has many worthy objectives. It covers long forgotten details and presents them alongside the professional, ethical, and legal requirements. The authors' objectives are all met, and then some. Audience The target audience includes practitioners, new and seasoned, as well as managers and decision makers who are seeking a systematic approach to comply with revised laws and regulations. The authors and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) are leading authorities in the development of guidelines for preparing compounded sterile products. The ASHP has been, and continues to be, a well respected and trusted provider of practical guidelines for hospital pharmacists and regulatory communities alike. Features As the USP regulations become more precise, particularly Chapter 797, and as The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services adopt the same guidelines, this book provides an easy to understand, systematic approach to "where we are and where we need to be."
