The accompanying website mirrors the book, chapter by chapter. Purpose This book is designed to provide introductory respiratory critical care to the readers. The online format is a slightly condensed version of the book, which makes it handy for readers on the go and to quickly find content without flipping through pages in the book. The authors have exceeded their stated objectives. Audience This book is primarily written for students in respiratory care programs and also for practitioners who are studying for the Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) credentialing exam. The book meets the need of both objectives, and the authors are unquestionably experts in respiratory care, having published many textbooks and research. Features The book covers respiratory care critical care concepts of mechanical ventilation, critical care procedures, pharmacotherapy, medical and trauma issues, and critical care guidelines. Each chapter begins with an outline, objectives, and key terms, and then the text delves into the chapter material. There are figures, tables, and boxes sprinkled throughout to reinforce chapter concepts. Each chapter ends with an up-to-date bibliography section, which refers to chapter concepts. The rear of the book has seven appendixes followed by a glossary and an index. Assessment This is an excellent book for any respiratory care program. It will prove to be a valuable resource for ACCS exam prep and a terrific resource for practicing respiratory therapists as well. As this is a first edition, it is hoped the authors continue to revise as practice standards continue to evolve. Well done!
