Purpose The purpose is to provide a comprehensive reference for undergraduate and graduate level public health students as well as practitioners in the field of global health. This is a needed reference with very up-to-date material. The objectives are definitely met. Audience The target audience includes public health students, faculty in public health, and practitioners in the field of global health. The book meets the needs of the intended audiences through very up-to-date material and a broad-based approach. The author is a noted authority in the field. Features This is a broad beginning book for students and practitioners. The organization of the book enables a beginning learner, a graduate learner, faculty, clinicians, and practitioners to readily access current information on global health. The illustrations and charts help to clarify the material. It is very well organized, and I certainly would use it. Assessment This is a superior book compared to others in the field. It is not unbearably long, heavy, or ponderous, as some are. Neither is it superficial or insensitive to the needs of varying populations. It addresses the most current and emerging global health issues.
