Purpose This edition continues to both expand the foundation of the previous 10 updates as well as optimize the transfer of knowledge to readers. Lisa Cannada took on the challenge of serving as editor in chief of this update and has done a remarkable job of improving the offering. Each section is now summarized by a few key points, references have been optimized and are assuredly more current, and a bonus DVD provides additional videos. Audience OKU has become the core reference for residents in training as a source of fundamental broad knowledge in preparation for in-training and boards. All practicing orthopedic surgeons will find it a great source of current general orthopedic knowledge to assure they are ready for their next required maintenance of certification or recertification examination. Features It is difficult for any publication to cover the broad area of orthopedic surgery when every chapter topic could have its own book. Nonetheless, we all need a concise reference for efficient review, preparation, and to remain current. The DVD is a nice bonus, but with many journals and books now offering readily available versions for smartphones and tablets, I would have loved to see the same for OKU. Assessment OKU remains the first line review for virtually all orthopedic surgeons and residents. This update not only maintains the standards of the previous 10 OKUs, but continues on the path of improving the delivery of information.
