Description
This is the fourth edition of a publication offered by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons on hip and knee reconstruction.
Purpose
The purpose is to update previous editions with recent advances in related basic sciences and technology.
Audience
The audience includes residents, fellows, and orthopedic surgeons.
Features
The 25 chapters are divided into three sections. The first section is dedicated to basic sciences such as biologic response to implants, bearing surfaces for hip or knee replacement, and recent concepts related to osteonecrosis. The second section provides information on partial and total knee replacement. The third section covers hip replacement arthroplasty. These last two sections discuss basic sciences, techniques, results, and complications.
