Description
| This is a book covering oral and maxillofacial pathology, written by a surgeon and a pathologist. Although the information provided is at times different from the general consensus, the author discusses his reasoning for doing so. |
Purpose
| The purpose is to cover oral and maxillofacial pathology, including etiology, presentation, demographics, histology, and treatment. |
Audience
| The book is directed towards surgeons involved in the treatment of maxillofacial pathology as well as pathologists involved in the diagnosis of maxillofacial pathology. |
Features
| The book contains quality color images, for the most part, and covers the current method of diagnosis and treatment of the different types of pathologies. Since it is written by a surgeon and an oral pathologist, the book provides readers with the information expected in a pathology book with the addition of proposed current treatments, both medical and surgical. It presents a new classification in an attempt to eliminate complicated classification and it changes the terminology of certain pathologies, making the name more representative of the described pathology. It also contains a nice section dedicated to the general principles of tumor management and reconstruction of defects from ablative surgery. The book also contains discussions of the etiology of multiple diseases, which many times are supplemented by color diagrams. |

Assessment
| This book is complete and well written. The downside of this book is its large size, making it difficult to carry around. The information provided is of excellent quality, is innovative and facilitates the complicated classification of maxillofacial pathologies. |
