Description
This is the third edition of a comprehensive book that provides a broad understanding of primary care disorders across the lifespan in a user-friendly format. It is an evidence-based, up-to-date resource designed to assist readers in providing quality clinical care.
Purpose
The primary objective is to provide a comprehensive resource with current national guidelines across the lifespan, dietary and health promotion guidelines, patient teaching guides, and some commonly used procedures. The authors have done an exceptional job in meeting this objective.
Audience
It is intended as a clinical resource for both novice and experienced primary care providers. The contributors and editors are expert primary care providers with years of experience. Both editors have done a wonderful job in building upon the previous versions of this book to create an exceptionally comprehensive resource.
Features
The book is organized into three sections: guidelines, procedures, and patient teaching guides. Within each section, chapters are organized in a body systems manner. The information is presented using an alphabetical, bulleted format. Additionally, each chapter consistently follows with specific sections for ease of identifying the location of information. The patient teaching guidelines have been incorporated as perforated tear-out forms so practitioners can use them in their clinical practices.
Assessment
This edition has been revised to incorporate current, evidence-based information to ensure quality care for patients. The new format results in an improved design for ease of access. Healthcare continues to evolve at an extremely fast pace and it is with excellent resources like this that primary care providers can continue to provide quality care.
