Description
This book provides baseline knowledge on traumatic brain injury assessments. Each chapter presents clear objectives, uniformity in structure, and study questions that help to highlight takeaway messages.
Purpose
The purpose is to present information on traumatic brain injury assessments. It is helpful as a quick reference and provides citations of classic studies in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Online access to the material is helpful for portability. For these reasons, this book meets its objectives.
Audience
This is a good book for students and residents who are learning about traumatic brain injuries. The foundational knowledge shared helps this audience address the key concepts for management and treatment of people with traumatic brain injuries. The authors are credible with credentials to support their content area.
Features
This book provides generalized introductory information on traumatic brain injuries. It does not go into much detail as to the nuances of different presentations of the common symptoms.
Assessment
This book provides an overview of the common causes of traumatic brain injuries, initial work-up, and assessment of common symptoms post-TBI. It is a good foundational handbook for students, residents, and possibly younger attendings who don't regularly work with the TBI population. This is an updated edition; however, I did not review the prior version to assess if it needed to be updated.
