Description
This book provides a comprehensive overview of topics related to brain injury medicine. It highlights the current practices and research endeavors that support the growth of this young field. Having both print and online access increases the accessibility of the book for current trainees and clinicians. This is the third edition, last published in 2012. |
Purpose
The purpose of this book is to provide the most up-to-date literature in clinical practice. Each chapter is intentionally developed and provides learning objectives. It also reinforces the complexity of brain injuries and how an interdisciplinary approach is required to provide the highest standard of care for patients. |
Audience
This book is intended for residents, fellows, and current clinicians who manage the care of people with brain injuries. It may be more in-depth than is needed for a medical student. The authors are well-established and well-respected clinicians and researchers who bring credibility to the book. |
Features
This textbook is edited to provide clear and concise information where there is evidence-based medicine. When there are discussions about anecdotal recommendations, the authors are intentional and inform the reader. Clear learning objectives and a brief summary at the end of each chapter are helpful. One shortcoming is that the book can be dense with limited images. |
Assessment
This updated textbook was much needed as there has been increased attention in recent years toward brain injuries. The book provides updated guidelines and clinical practice recommendations that support the intended audience of trainees and current practitioners. This update makes it the current standard text for any brain injury specialist. |
