The purpose is to describe the development of a program of research in nursing, a worthy goal that no book has yet addressed. The author does an excellent job of meeting this objective.
Audience
The intended audience is PhD students and junior nursing faculty. With a successful program of research that spans more than 25 years, the author is a credible authority.
Features
The book begins with a chapter on the importance of developing a program of research. Subsequent chapters describe the process of developing and sustaining such a program. The author uses examples from her own program of research and several other nurse researchers to illustrate important points. Tables and figures throughout the book complement the text.
Assessment
As the first book that describes the development of a program of research in nursing, this should be in the library of every nursing PhD student and junior faculty member.
