Description
This is an excellent resource for nurses pursuing a career as an advanced practice nurse, a nurse anesthetist. This edition includes access to an ebook and multiple online videos. The first edition of this valuable resource was published in 2009.
Purpose
The purpose is to provide a wonderful bridge for mastery of the chemistry and physics needed as a foundation for anesthesia principles. It provides students with an understanding of the complex information needed to succeed as nurse anesthetists, with a focus on developing a foundation for mathematics and the basic sciences.
Audience
The audience is limited to graduate students in nurse anesthesia. This valuable book meets the stated objectives for the intended audience. The authors are experts in their field and clearly present the extensive topics.
Features
The authors organize the material in a very strategic fashion, developing the topics so that the material builds on itself. This very intentional outline assists students to build their understanding of these complex topics. The end of chapter review questions are extensive with the solutions provided at the end of the book. This edition has been expanded to provide case studies and applications, and the authors have added a extensive glossary at the end of the book. The material is presented more as a conversation to help facilitate learning.
Assessment
This third edition builds on the previous editions by including important suggestions from readers. The addition of the third author brings an expanded clinician perspective to the book.
