Description
This is the fourth edition of an established British atlas of oral pathology. Because of the advances in understanding of the underlying cellular disease processes and of the genetic disorders of the oral and craniofacial complex, an update to the previous edition, published in 1997, is needed.
Purpose
The purpose is to provide a systematic presentation of common oral and maxillofacial diseases and developmental disorders. Numerous color clinical photographs as well as color plates of cytology slides serve to illustrate the book.
Audience
The book caters primarily to undergraduate students new to pathology concepts and their clinical presentation. It can also serve as a ready reference guide for the everyday practitioner in trying to develop a differential diagnosis.
Features
The numerous diseases and developmental disorders of the oral/maxillofacial complex are systematically arranged and described by the authors. Color clinical photographs illustrate the clinical appearance of the noted pathology. In addition, for those readers so inclined, color plates of the cytologic appearance of each pathologic process are also included.
Assessment
Illustrated books on oral pathology will always have their place in the library of the dental student or practitioner. Because this one is a paperback, it is lightweight and should be popular with readers. It will serve as an excellent ready reference.
