The information is arranged in an easy to use alphabetical format that gives concise and detailed information to guide interventions and patient testing and evaluation. The inside covers include Spanish translations of common signs and symptoms. Purpose The purpose is to provide a concise reference to assist in clinical diagnosis and physical examination. Using this guide will assist clinicians in selecting appropriate diagnostic testing and evaluation tools, rather than an expensive and often futile battery of tests and procedures. It reinforces the need for hands-on examination of the patient and the use of clinical diagnostic expertise. This is a very worthy objective, especially in this age of advance medical technology. Audience Providers in clinical practice at all levels are the intended audience. It is especially useful for students and/or novice practitioners to reinforce the need to not overly rely on laboratory and diagnostic testing. Features Each sign and symptom is presented in a standardized format, beginning with a brief review of the presenting problem. Emergency interventions are discussed if pertinent to the condition, then relevant history and physical examination techniques are detailed.
