Social media efforts can be more successful when they move beyond broadcasting information about the library to a passive audience, to fostering interaction among the library, its patrons, and colleagues. The Texas Medical Center Library's social media goal is to build social capital (Solomon, 2013, p. 25) and encourage engagement. To this end, we revised our social media strategy in the first half of 2015. Following these changes, we saw an increase in interactions with our posts, including likes, shares, retweets, mentions, and comments. Additionally, we found that we spent less time and effort on managing the accounts.
